"Family" Feature Film Rental
"The family that's OUT together, stays together."
Writer/director Faith Trimel’s (Black Aura on an Angel) coming-of-age dramedy centers on the lives of a group of lesbian friends who all experience continual strife in their personal and professional lives as a result of being closeted (silent about one's homosexuality). Some of the women must deny and reject the one they love while others struggle with the suffocating confines of closetedness for the sake of their careers. When the strain becomes too great, the women forge a pact to come out together within thirty days in every significant relationship and situation in their life. They have each other, but is that enough? "Family" explores the highs and lows faced when one takes the risk to live authentically while redefining the meaning of family.
Back by popular demand. Enjoy the re-release of this trailblazing film. It has been over a decade since the debut of "Family" and it remains a bellwether of our contemporary progressive society much more inclusive of those LGBTQ. A coming-out story seems tame now; however, not so long ago the stakes were high and the fears and concerns real. Get ready to experience this classic tale of a brave clan of friends embarking on a journey of self-empowerment.
